Abstract:Tobacco stem was used to make pulp with chemimechanical pulping (CMP) process. The pulp was mixed with small amount of lignocellulosic fiber and used to make cigarette paper based on tobacco sheet. The obtained base paper was converted to be a cigarette paper by further coating with the extractives from tobacco stem. The physical properties and smoking quality of the paper were tested. According to the physics indexes (tensile strength, air permeability, etc.) requirement of cigarette paper and the optimization of beating experiment, the ratio of the materials and the optimal beating degree of the materials were as following: tobacco stem pulp 75%, 35°SR; unbleached softwood 20%, 80°SR; bleached hardwood 2.5%, 40°SR; bleached cannabis 2.5%, 70°SR. Under the condition, the tensile strength, air permeability and elongation of the cigarette paper were about 39.67 N·m/g, 10.21 μm/(Pa·s) and 1.41 % respectively. Moreover, the results of smoking test of the cigarette paper based on tobacco sheet indicated that the woody odor and stimulation reduced, the quality was improved obviously compared with the normal cigarette paper. |
