Abstract:In this study, Pteroceltis tatarinowii bark pulp was used as raw material to investigate the effects of different bleaching sequences on the pulp properties and paper properties. The physical
properties and ink absorbency of Xuan paper prepared from three types of bleached Pteroceltis tatarinowii bark pulp were evaluated and compared with those of commercial Xuan paper. The results showed that the bark pulp bleached by D(EP) and OQP sequences exhibited superior brightness, viscosity, and physical strength compared to the commercial pulp bleached with Ca(ClO)?. The physical strength of the pulp bleached by the PP sequence was slightly lower than that of the commercial pulp. Compared with the commercial Xuan paper, the Xuan paper prepared from D(EP) and OQP bleached pulps showed better brightness, higher physical strength, and less brightness loss after aging. The Xuan paper made from PP bleached pulp exhibited slightly lower physical strength than the commercial sample. In terms of density and ink absorbency, the Xuan paper prepared from PP, D(EP), and OQP bleached pulps showed similar performance to the commercial Xuan paper. |
